Alice Virginia Amalong

Alice Virginia Brewer Amalong Beloved Wife, Mother, Grandmother, Great Grandmother, Sister, Aunt and Friend Alice Virginia Amalong passed away, on the 12th day of November 2025, at the home of her daughter, Brenda Overson in San Tan Valley. The last two weeks of her life, she was surrounded with great love by her family and loved ones on both sides of the veil. She was 90 years old. Alice, Virginia Brewer was born to Delbert and Daisy Brewer on August 26, 1935. She was the first of five daughters. She was born in Globe, Arizona, and lived in Arizona her entire life, having moved many times as a child and as an adult, finally settling in Willcox Arizona. She had a very special relationship with her one true love, James Lewis Amalong, starting at the age of 13, when they began writing and continued until his death in 2021. They were married on June 13, 1953. They were married for 68 years on this earth and are now reunited eternally, holding hands in love. Alice was as hard-working as they come. Together with Jim, they raised four daughters and one son. They sorrowfully lost their firstborn, son, after only 19 days of life. She mourned him, even until the last days of her life. They also raised four grandchildren, and three great grandchildren, being the mother and father too many. Alice absolutely loved plants of every kind— trees, gardens, and flowers of all varieties. She had one of the greenest thumbs imaginable, and everything she touched grew beautifully. Alice loved to paint and became very good at it. She loved to paint scenes of nature and has blessed many of her family members with paintings they will always treasure. Alice also loved to craft. She saved every toilet paper roll, and would have turned them into a mansion, if given the chance. She had the gift of turning nothing, into something beautiful. She worked tirelessly, her whole life, caring for her home, her gardens, and her children with the same strong work ethic she lived by. Alice became a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of latter-day Saints, in 1965 and faithfully followed her Savior, Jesus Christ, her entire life serving in many different capacities. She is proceeded in death by her parents, Delbert and Daisy Brewer, her husband James Lewis Amalong, her children, Gary James, and Karen Alice, her sisters, Annie, Janet, and Clara Jean and two grandsons, Abram and Thomas. Alice is survived by one sister, Myrtle, her daughters, Nancy Gail, of Safford AZ, Brenda Jean (Pat) of San Tan Valley, AZ, Debra Jane (Aaron) of Sierra Vista, AZ, her son Duane Matthew (Dawn) Leavenworth, Kansas, 24 grandchildren and 46 great grand grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. Alice ‘s love and devotion to her family will be forever remembered. Her kindness, strength, generosity, and love touched everyone who knew her. She leaves behind a legacy of hard work, creativity, enduring strength, perseverance, and unconditional love, that will continue to bloom in the hearts of her family and friends. She will be greatly missed! Alice’s funeral will be held, Saturday, November 29, 2025, at 10:00 AM at the church of Jesus Christ of latter-day Saints building, located at, 900 S. Encanto St., Willcox, AZ 85643 A luncheon will be provided at the same location following the funeral service. Graveside services will be held at the El Dorado cemetery at 2:00 PM Located near the Chiricahua national Monument, east of Willcox, Arizona.
