Marjorie Christy Scott

1923 – 2023 Marjorie Christy Scott, 100, of Willcox, Arizona, passed away Thursday, Dec. 14, 2023, in Willcox, Ariz. She was born July 22, 1923, In Graysville, OH. She was the second of six children of the late Thomas A. Christy and Freda Mobberly Christy. She was the wife, daughter, and granddaughter of church of Christ gospel preachers. Majorie loved the Lord and decided to obey the gospel at the age of 12. She was baptized in a creek. As a very committed Christian, she taught children’s Bible classes for most of her life. This included traveling to Cherokee, North Carolina, and teaching on the Indian reservation. Marjorie also was a Sunday school teacher and wrote a column for children in a gospel paper called “Aunt Marjorie’s Corner”. After graduating high school in Graysville, she went on to cosmetology school in West Virginia. Once completing her training, she returned to Woodsfield, Ohio where she and Emerson Scott were married (her best friend since the age of 9). Emerson and Marjorie were married on January 19th, 1943, in Woodsfield, Ohio. They celebrated 68 years of marriage. She was very proud of her heritage and enjoyed studying genealogy. Marjorie was a member of the Willcox Dry Lake Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution. Marjorie is proceeded in death by her husband, parents, four siblings, and a son-in-law. She is survived by daughter Rita Sue (J.K.) Powell, Elfrida, Ariz. and daughter Christy Amalong of Willcox, Ariz., six grandchildren: Steve Powell, Rhome, Texas; Tim (Marisol) Powell, Douglas, Ariz.; Angela (Jim) Bollier, Avondale, Ariz., Tina (Werner) Neubauer, Willcox, Ariz., Lisa (Tom) Borin, Gilbert, Ariz.; Jason (Michelle) Amalong, Gilbert, Ariz., and seven great-grandchildren; Tristan (Dakota) Neubauer and Scott( Raney) Neubauer, Jacob and Emma Borin, Zachary, Micah and Faith Amalong; and two great-great-grandchildren: Raelynn and Colter Neubauer; and one sister; Donna Baker of Dayton, Ohio. Funeral Services will be held 10:30 am on Friday, December 22,2023 at the Church of Christ in Willcox. Viewing will be from 10:00 am until 10:30 am. Interment will follow in Sunset Cemetery.
