Kathy A. Cohorn

Katherine Ann Cohorn, of Willcox died April 13, 2025, at Tucson Medical Center at the age of 84. She was born in Wichita, Kansas on August 12, 1940, to John Alexander Conklin and Margaret Amanda Kersey who lived in Mulvane, Kansas at the time. The Conklin family relocated to Tucson, Arizona in 1946 and moved to Willcox, Arizona a few years later where Kathy resided for the rest of her life. She was a graduate of Willcox High School where history and music were two of her favorite subjects. She went on to study Home Economics at the University of Arizona. On November 25, 1959, Kathy married Clint Cohorn. Being a mother to her three girls was always her focus. Once her girls were in school, she became employed as a nurse’s aide at Willcox Elementary School and soon moved to the front office of Willcox High School to help with attendance. She was the pom sponsor for several years. Kathy served Willcox Schools for over 30 years, retiring in 2002. Working for the school gave her holidays and summers with her family. Her faith has always been a big part of her life. She has been a long-time member of Willcox United Methodist Church where she directed the Cherub Choir, taught numerous Sunday School classes, was a member United Methodist Women, sang in the choir, attended Tea and Toast. Serving the community was also important to Kathy. She was active in the Hospital Auxiliary which included serving as president as well as a member of the Lambda Chi Omega Sorority-Arizona Alpha Chapter. She also enjoyed many years operating her Amway business. Kathy is survived by her three daughters: Michele (Kelly) Shannon of Bonita, Arizona; Celeste Cohorn (Michael Brant) of Salt Lake City, Utah; Vanessa (Derrick) Brown of Phoenix, Arizona. Katherine has three grandchildren (Brittany, Clay and Payton) and two great grandchildren (Kired and Clint). Katherine’s parents and husband preceded her in death. A celebration of life will take place at 10 am on May 3, 2025, and will be held at Willcox United Methodist Church. Contributions in lieu of flowers may be made to Kathy Cohorn Memorial Fund, P.O. Box 742, Willcox, Arizona 85644 – we hope to fund a water bottle fill station at the new Willcox City Pool. Services are under the direction of Westlawn Chapel, Mortuary & Crematorium in Willcox, AZ.
