Jean M. Inman

On December 29, 2025, Jean Inman of Willcox, Arizona, (formerly of San Simon, Arizona), passed away of natural causes at the age of 100 years and 9 months. She was born in Willcox, Arizona on March 6, 2025, to Julius M. Christenson and Allene (Grout) Christenson. After her father Julius, she was the second in her family to reach the age of 100. Jean received her bachelor’s degree from Houghton University in New York. From New York she traveled to rural Kentucky for her first teaching job. Following that assignment, Jean’s adventurous soul led to a teaching assignment in Panama with a Methodist Missionary School. She returned briefly to the States to attend the wedding of her sister, Wilma. While home, she met a young man named Harold Inman. Jean returned to Panama, but continued correspondence with Harold. In 1950, after she returned to California, she and Harold were married. They were married for 72 wonderful years until Harold’s death in 2022, at the age of 97. Jean was an educator for most of her life. She and Harold continued their adventurous life returning to Panama as Missionary/educators with their young family. After four years in Panama, they moved to Missouri where Harold farmed, and Jean taught high school Spanish. In 1970 they moved to Costa Rica where they ran two cattle ranches. When their children were grown, they relocated to San Simon, Arizona. Together the founded a “Faith Fellowship” congregation in San Simon, Arizona. After retiring Jean and Harold moved to Willcox, Arizona, coming full circle to Jeans’ birthplace. Jean was never much for idle time and continued to teach English as a Second Language and Spanish at the Senior Center in Willcox well into her 90’s. Jean is survived by three children: Martha Prendergast (Gene) of Bonita, AZ, Marcia Inman (Kristin) of Eugene OR, Alan W. Inman (Sandra) of Cuajiniquil, Costa Rica. Jean has five grandchildren: Alan A. Inman, Roy W. Inman, Emily N. Prendergast-Knoper (Ryan), Erin K. Prendergast, and Tyler G. Prendergast. Jean has two great grandchildren: Caroline J. Knoper and Jackson H. Knoper. Preceding Jean in death was her husband Harold Inman, parents Julius and Allene Christenson, and her two siblings, Gary Christenson and Wilma Myhren. A celebration of Jean’s life will be announced in the near future.
