George Albert Reyes

George Albert Reyes, born Jorge Negrete Alberto Reyes to Simon and Maria Reyes in Benson, Arizona, on April 16, 1946, was reunited with our Lord and Savior on Sunday, August 2, 2026. George grew up in Benson and graduated from Benson High School in 1964. In 1965, he joined the United States Army and was stationed in Alaska during the Vietnam War. After being honorably discharged, George returned home to Benson, where he began his career at Apache Nitrogen. He dedicated 36 years to the company before retiring—though retirement certainly didn’t mean he was ready to stop keeping everyone around him on their toes. George was a fiercely loyal and loving husband, father, grandfather, son, brother, uncle, and friend. He had a special way of showing affection: if he wasn’t picking on you, teasing you, or finding some creative way to aggravate you, you probably needed to ask yourself why! Behind his playful mischief was a man who was always ready with love, wisdom, advice, and a helping hand. He was the heart of his family, the kind of patriarch who kept everyone connected, and someone whose presence could fill a room. George leaves behind countless stories, plenty of laughter, and a family who will continue to smile whenever they remember his jokes, his teasing, and the many ways he showed how deeply he cared. He will be greatly missed, forever loved, and undoubtedly remembered as someone who made life a little more entertaining for everyone around him. George is survived by his beloved wife, Brenda Reyes of Saint David, Arizona; his daughters, Elizabeth (Bradley) Reyes Maxwell of Saint David, Arizona, and Felicia Dandurand Rogers of Douglas, Arizona; and his sons, Robert (Lynette) Dandurand of Goodyear, AZ and Brian (Kim) Dandurand, of Litchfield Park, Arizona. He is also survived by one niece, one nephew, 16 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren, 1 great-great grandchild, his first wife and longtime friend Martha Breuer, his adorable Scottish Terrier, Bella, and many other family members and friends whom he cared for dearly. George was preceded in death by his parents, Maria and Simon Reyes; his infant brother, Simon Reyes Jr.; his oldest brother, Vicente Reyes, and his beloved Boston Terriers, Snuffles, Snitzler, Pretty the 1st, Pretty the 2nd, Prissy, and Tilly. A Funeral Mass will be held 11:00 am on Saturday, August 8, 2026 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Tombstone.
