Anna Louise Curry

On February 20, 2025, Anna Louise Curry went home to her Heavenly Father. Anna was born October 18, 1931, in Lawton, Oklahoma to Prime & Bessie Payette. She was the baby sister to 4 adoring older brothers and, after her mother’s eyesight sharply declined, 7-year-old Anna became the cook for the family. This made her later move to Arizona with Noel, a true act of faith. Noel & Anna met at the classroom pencil sharpener in 1945 and were married November 18, 1950, beginning a 72-year love story. They moved from Oklahoma to southeast Arizona in 1952 in pursuit of farming opportunities, which they found in the irrigated fields of the high desert Sulphur Springs Valley as they pioneered the early chili industry. They welcomed Helen in 1952, and Ed in 1956. Noel and Anna found joy in working hard, and playing hard, as a family. Anna was a tenacious bookkeeper and business partner, balancing books to the penny and sharing her unfailing optimism — “it’ll work!” Noel and Anna spent their lives farming, fishing, playing dominos, raising their children, building relationships with their grandchildren, serving their community and church family, helping people in need, and most of all, loving God and each other. Throughout 72 years of marriage, Noel and Anna remained committed to loving, serving, cherishing, and enjoying one another. Their home was a place of comfort and peace; their kitchen table was always inviting for family and friends who needed a wise, kind, and encouraging word, a chili relleno, chocolate pie, or a game of dominos. Anna’s life was marked by her kind compassion, her creativity, her ability to find joy everywhere, and her sincere encouragement to those around her — she lived out Philippian’s 4:8 by focusing on what is true, noble, right, pure, lovely, admirable, excellent and praiseworthy. Whether gently helping kids memorize Scripture in Bible class, patiently baking cherry cobbler with her grandkids, or hosting a fish fry, to know Anna was to know her loving kindness. Anna is preceded in death by her loving husband Noel, great-grand-daughter Hattie Joy, and her parents and brothers. She is survived by a full quiver of devoted and grateful children, nieces and nephews, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren who aspire to carry on Noel and Anna's beautiful legacy of truly living the abundant life found in Christ. A visitation will be held on Tuesday, February 25, 2025, from 5:00 to 6:30 pm at Westlawn Chapel. Private Family Services will be held.
