Al Wasinger

Alfred Joseph Wasinger Alfred “Al” Joseph Wasinger, 82, died Nov.6, 2013, in Sunsites, Arizona. He was born April 2, 1931, in Rush County, Kansas, the son of Wendelin and Beata (Stremel) Wasinger. Al served in the U.S. Navy from 1951-1955. He was a farmer and cattleman in Scott County, Kansas since 1955. In 2001, he retired to Sunsites, Arizona. Al was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Scott City, Kansas and St. Jude Thaddeus Catholic Church, Sunsites, Arizona. He was an Honorary Life member of the Knights of Columbus. On January 8, 1958, he married Margaret Ann Heiman in Garden City, Kansas. She died March 27, 1991. He married Nicie Burd in Oberlin, Kansas on September 11, 1993. She survives. Other survivors include: three sons, Jeffrey, Scott City, Kansas, James (Renee), Dallas, Texas, Bradley (Renee), Overland Park, Kansas; two daughters, Julie Miller (Gary), Scott City, Kansas, Janelle Dill (Steve), Hilton Head Island, South Carolina; thirteen grandchildren and eight great grandchildren, two step-sons, Gary (Lisa) and Matthew (Christina); two step-daughters Kimberly and Shana; ten step-grandchildren and eight step-great grandchildren; one sister, Bernadette (Jim) Schampel, Green Valley, Arizona; two brothers, Edwin Wasinger (Rosemary), Scott City, Kansas, Brother Emanuel Wasinger, Big Sur, California; sister-in-law, Joann Wasinger, Grand Junction, Colorado; mother-in-law Elizabeth Wiscombe, Ingersoll, Ontario, Canada. He was preceded in death by his father, mother, two brothers, two sisters, one great grandson and one step grandson. Al loved carpentry and will be remembered through his many beautiful pieces of woodwork. He enjoyed traveling around the country to visit family and friends and every other year he looked forward to a meeting with the Taluga (AO-62) Navy Group. Al was also very fond of his canine companion, "Tesie". A special thank you to the Charles Wm. Leighton, Jr. Hospice for their loving care and support. Nov. 11, 2013, 10:30 a.m. Rosary and 11:00 a.m. Mass at St. Jude Thaddeus Catholic Church, Sunsites, Arizona. A Memorial Mass and Burial will also be held 10:00 A.M. Sat.
