In Loving Memory of Gilbert L Tellez Gilbert was born on July 12, 1962, in Tucson, Arizona, to Manuel Juarez and Sara Lopez Tellez of Bowie, AZ. Growing up in his hometown of Bowie, Arizona, Gilbert was known for his athleticism, participating in every sport, excelling in basketball and baseball as a back-to-back All-State Champ of the boastful "Bowie Bombers." His vibrant spirit extended beyond sports, with memories of youthful mischief like chasing girls and, humorously, siphoning gas from school buses. A familiar sight was Gilbert joyfully jumping the fence at the local pool. Upon moving his family to San Jon, New Mexico Gilbert dedicated over 25 years of his life working alongside his father-in-law at Terry's Service Center, becoming a cherished and respected member of the community. Known for his generous nature, Gilbert would give the shirt off his back to someone in need, epitomizing the true essence of a compassionate and selfless individual. His commitment to community extended to his involvement in his children's activities at San Jon schools. In his spiritual journey, Gilbert became a member of the First Baptist Church in Tucumcari approximately three years ago, after relocating to Tucumcari in 2012. Previously, he was a member of the San Jon Baptist Church. Gilbert found joy in actively participating in church activities, from assisting with Thanksgiving dinners to supporting the youth and engaging in heartfelt conversations with fellow members. Gilbert leaves behind a legacy as a loving son, brother, father, uncle, grandfather, great-grandfather, and devoted husband to Sherry. His unwavering love and support for his family were evident in his willingness to go to great lengths, even "roping the moon" for anyone in need. Gilbert's playful sense of humor, penchant for practical jokes, and his role as a second father to those in need will be cherished by all who had the privilege of knowing him. Gilbert L Tellez peacefully departed this world in his home after bravely facing an extended illness, surrounded by his family. He is survived by his spouse Sherry; his children Alimpia Tellez of Clovis, NM; Ysidro Tellez (Gabby) of Virginia Beach, VA; Ysidra Tellez (Tyler) Alb, NM; Brittany Pulcini of Portales, NM; Mother Sara Lopez Tellez, Bowie, Sister Gloria Garcia (Manuel) of Tucson, Brother Manuel Tellez III (Debra) of Tucson, Sister Delia Guzman (Fernando) of San Simon, . He was also cherished by six grandchildren, and one great grandchild. He is preceded by death by his daughter Alicia Tellez, father Manuel Tellez, Sister Manuela Hernandez, brother Alejandro Tellez. Celebration of New Life will be March 29, 2024, At 11:00 am At the Bruce Brown Gymnasium in Bowie Az.
